Vote: Understudy Of The Year 2012

Richard Fleeshman with the Original 'Molly'
Understudies in Ghost the Musical
THE VOTING PERIOD HAS NOW ENDED.

Click Here to find out who won

Without understudies the West End would be in chaos... in fact it would not even be able to function! That is why I decided our May poll should be voting for 'West End Frame's Understudy Of The Year 2012'! It was so hard to choose 20 nominees as there are so many incredibly talented understudies in the West End of whom I have a lot of respect for, I do not know how they do what they do.

Voting opened Friday 4th May 2012 and closed Thursday 24th May at 3.00pm. This is the longest voting period we have had on West End Frame so this gives you plenty of time to spread the word!

Lets give our understudies the recognition they deserve!

Happy Voting...

    Fantastic performance.

Couldn't agree more - when will the producer realise that he already have the best Roxie working for him? Don't bother importing a 'name' - go for the best performer instead and watch the critics swoon.

  33. I actually haven't seen that many of the choices but I chose Scott Garnham, he's brilliant as Enjolras.

  55. Jenny Gayner plays Roxie with passion ,what an outstanding performance raising the audience from their seats with a standing ovation. Well deserved ;

    ReplyDelete
  56. Seen We will Rock You many many times Lauren Varnham played Scaramouche with real attitude and passion, Meat with carasima and stage presesce even ensamble sticks out a mile, the face those doey brown eyes and a smile that lights up the stage even if you are at the back of the theatre. A small petite person with such strong booming voice. Trust Me totally awesome a must see. not sure why an understudy out shines and out performs time and time again.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Performance or a name? what would you like to see and hear? a totally superior voice with cant take your eyes of her stage presents or somebody that came in the top 10 of xfactor or an imported name. Well we want to be Rocked off our seats and Entertained all performance long for our money. Dont take my word for it go see for yourself, go see WE WILL ROCK YOU after you have voted for LAUREN VARNHAM of course who should be leading lady Scaramouche. Come on Mr Elton what are you doing. Lauren Rocks our socks off

  58. great to see real talent get there without any help or contacts in the business, just hard work and her own talent unlike many of the I've had the door opened for me understudies Katy treharne hard work and talent you deserve it .

    ReplyDelete
  59. dont think many people knew the vote was going on until yesterday looks like it was a secret for some people for some reason

    ReplyDelete
  60. well a lot of people found out at the same time and all voted simultaneously then

    ReplyDelete
  61. Have been recording the voting trend very interesting if you extrapolate and track the two highest scores and how they have reacted to Katy's votes coming in a nice predictable pattern ouch

    ReplyDelete
  62. Simultaneous definition , occurring, operating or done at the same time, votes at lunch time 375 , at finish time 520,and now 565 so how did 400 votes happen simultaneously exactly, duh? I don't think so All absolutely above board it's not a secret anymore luvees

    ReplyDelete
  63. anyway... back to the talent which is what understudy of the year should be about...

I think Nikki Davis-Jones is incredible! She should definitely take over from Rachel. She has a different tone to previous Elphie's and makes Defying Gravity sound effortless!

    ReplyDelete
  64. Exactly and no matter who is in the lead or trailing all of the above understudies are highly talented and deserve recognition

    ReplyDelete
  65. Agreed! Its nice to see these people getting reconised for what they do as normally its just the leads who win awards. It must be so fustrating to be so talented yet be in the ensemble and only occasionally getting to perform a lead role. So much respect for what all of these people do!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I notice the 4th may posting with reference to the particular understudies famous father has been removed

    1. There is a comment on the 5th of may about Sam Edwards dad being famous, was there another one aswell?

  67. So, I can see now that it's pretty unlikely that Scott Garnham ends up winning this one, but just to state my personal opinion: he's /the best/ on this list, hands-down, and I desperately wish he were staying with the show as principal Enjolras after the cast change. Hopefully he comes back someday and gets the opportunity to really shine in Les Mis. =)

  70. Erm nearly a thousand votes in a matter of hours, a good and fair battle with Lauren and Jenny close all the way and then all of a sudden in comes Katy, well anything is possible my money is now on David Bardlsey no votes but only a few hours to go i am sure he can pull in just over a million votes, enough said. Fair and square! ahem, any way well done Lauren Varnham great to see last week. also well done Jenny fair to the end.
